Butt weld pipe reducer enables there to be a change in pipe size to meet certain hydraulic flow requirements or sometimes it's just a matter of connecting two different pipe sizes. A concentric butt welding reducer works the same way as eccentric, but resembles a cone and keeps fluid or gas more centered, whereas eccentric reducers have a parallel edge, which results in an offsetting center.
